100km through the pukeiti rainforest
The Pukeiti 100 takes cyclists over a stunning mix of coastal and rainforest roads.
This 100km adventure kicks of the Tour of Taranaki with cyclists the first to head off from TSB Stadium and through the streets of New Plymouth. Following the same route as the Around the Mountain for the first 45 km the Pukeiti 100 turns left at Rahotu and climbs up country roads to the Pukeiti Rainforest Gardens.
A must visit location for all visitors to Taranaki. Once through Pukeiti cyclists start the undulating descent back down to New Plymouth.
But don't be distracted by the scenery, this section is a rollercoaster ride of turns, descents and climbs as the altitude decreases towards New Plymouth.
The last section of the ride takes the riders along Mangorei Road to join the Around the Mountain cyclists for the final few kilometres into New Plymouth.

are you ready for the challenge?
The Pukeiti 100 does not have a cut-off time and is suitable for all speed of cyclist.
However, you should be comfortable descending and cornering on your bike as the Pukeiti section of the route is full of twists and turns. There are some sections with limited visibility where it is important that cyclists are keeping left on the road and are aware of oncoming traffic.
There is also a short section (4 km) at the end of the ride that is on the highway. This section of road has a shoulder and good visibility.
