For those new to road cycling or looking for a stepping stone event for 2024, the Pukeiti 50 is for you.
The choice is yours whether you want to enter a 2 person relay team for the 100km or you can go it alone and start halfway at Rahotu; a 40 minute drive from New Plymouth or 15 minutes from Opunake.
From the start line you'll follow the Pukeiti 100 cyclists and enjoy the sights and sounds of the rainforest.
Take your time through this winding section as you ascend 400m in elevation to reach Pukeiti Gardens. You can then enjoy the twisty undulating descent back down into New Plymouth.

It's time to make it happen.
The Pukeiti 50 is aimed at recreational cyclists looking to enter their first event or those who enjoy a shorter distance. It's also perfect for E-Bikes to take the sting out of the climb!
There is no cut-off time for the 50km but participants should be aware that the road over Pukeiti is technical, and you should be comfortable climbing, cornering and descending.
There is also a 4 km section on the highway at the end of the ride with a speed limit of 100km/hr. This section has a shoulder and good visibility.
For cyclists wanting transport to the race start there is an option to purchase a ticket on the shuttle bus during registration.
